The Lions are the iconic twin peaks that tower above Vancouver. The hike up to the base of the peaks is a classic in the lower mainland. Raising from a parking lot at 250 metres over sea level, it gains 1300 metres to the base of the West Lion. After emerging from the trees, the views are spectacular in every direction. You do not get to the top - that's a scramble for people who do not fear death. But you walk down knowing that, every time you look up from downtown Vancouver, you'll think "I've been up there."
